ITHACA, N.Y. -- Washington & Jefferson (5-4, 2-2 Empire 8) defeated the Ithaca field hockey team (5-5, 2-2 Empire 8) by a 4-2 score Saturday afternoon at Higgins Stadium in Ithaca.

The visiting Presidents built a 2-0 lead in the first half and went on to the victory.

Ithaca trailed 3-0 before freshman Meridith DeLello scored her first career goal in the 49th minute, assisted by Andrea Pace. Pace added another  assist with 5:25 to play on the eighth goal of the season by senior forward Julia Conroy.

Bomber goalkeeper Kelly Singleton made three saves. Ithaca held a 15-10 advantage in penalty corners, and W&J led 12-10 in shots.

Ithaca returns to action Tuesday at Higgins Stadium against Brockport at 4 p.m.
