Overtime Victory For Ithaca Field Hockey At Hartwick

Box Score
Oneonta, N.Y. -- The Ithaca field hockey team (5-4, 2-1 Empire 8) scored the game-winning goal in the 14th minute of overtime and went on to a 3-2 win over Hartwick (4-4, 2-1 Empire 8) on Wednesday evening at Wright Stadium.

Ithaca built a 2-0 lead early in the second half before Hartwick rallied to tie the score. The game-winning goal came off the stick of Bomber senior Julia Conroy at 13:25 of overtime.

The Bombers opened the scoring in the first half with a deflected goal by Andrea Pace, assisted by Danielle Coiro. It was the third goal of the season for Pace, and moved her into second on the team's scoring charts. Coiro added to the lead with a goal early in the second half, her first of the season. Her three-point effort marked the first three points of her Ithaca career.

Hartwick scored in the 45th minute to reduce the margin to one, and then scored the game-tying goal with 2:33 remaining in the second half. That set up Ithaca's overtime victory, where Conroy scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season.

Ithaca moved into a second-place tie in the Empire 8, and will return to action Saturday at home with a 1 p.m. game at Higgins Stadium against Empire 8 opponent Washington & Jefferson.
