Oneonta, N.Y. -- The Ithaca women's tennis team (6-0, 5-0 Empire 8) claimed sole possession of first place in the Empire 8 with an 8-1 win at Hartwick (4-4, 3-1 Empire 8) Tuesday afternoon. Hartwick was the only other undefeated team in the conference standings prior to the match, which saw Ithaca sweep the doubles points and win the first five singles matches off of the courts.

The Bombers made quick work of the Hawks in doubles play as Cristina Nunez and Allison Young raced out to an 8-1 win at first doubles, followed by another 8-1 win at third doubles by the duo of Carly Siegel and Allison Vizgaitis. Ithaca made it a perfect three-for-three in doubles with an 8-3 win by Laural Salladay and Marni Blumenthal.

The Bombers romped in straight sets in the first five singles matches that were completed to maintain their unbeaten dual-meet record on the year. Ithaca returns to action Sunday at home for a 3 p.m. dual match against Stevens Institute of Technology.
