Geneva, N.Y. -- The 19th-ranked William Smith Herons (5-1) posted a 5-0 victory over visiting Ithaca (4-3) in a field hockey game Wednesday evening at McCooey Field. The Herons scored twice in the game's first seven minutes to take a lead and added three more goals to account for the final score.
Ithaca earned just two penalty corners, both in the second half, and attempted five shots on goal.

Kelly Singleton started the contest and made 16 saves in 53 and a half minutes of action. Senior goalkeeper
Samantha Grassi played the final 16:29 and didn't make a save.
The Bombers return to conference play Saturday at Stevens Institute of Technology. Ithaca is 1-0 in the Empire 8 this season, and Saturday's game begins at 5 p.m.
