ITHACA, N.Y. — The Ithaca men's swimming and diving team matched a single-season record for wins en route to a convincing 204-96 win over Union at the Athletics & Events Center Aquatics Pavilion. The Bombers concluded the dual-meet season with a record of 16-1. The Bombers won 12 swimming events, 10 of them individual, and one diving event.
Senior
Jeff Rapp took the 200-yard backstroke in 1:58.95 and the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:00.48.
Rapp also teamed up with sophomore
Nick Warner, junior
Jake Robbins and sophomore
Zack Kundel to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:35.80.
Robbins also tallied a victory in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.20, and
Kundel finished first in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.53.
The Bombers swept the relays as
Robbins,
Kundel, sophomore
John Carr and senior
Antoine Connors combined to swim 1:25.69 and win the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Carr also won the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle in times of 1:45.97 and 47.90. Freshman
Clement Towner finished first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:02.98 and in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:46.82.
Sophomore
Connor White picked up a victory in the 100-yard backstroke in 53.45, while classmate
Cheffy Thomas (Carmel/Carmel, Ind.) placed first in 200-yard breaststroke in 2:15.69.
Senior
Derek Rand won the three-meter diving event with a score of 314.60 points.
Saturday marked the final regular season home meet for seniors
Connors,
Tyler Kenton,
Rand,
Rapp and
James Sica, who were recognized in a pre-meet ceremony.
The Bombers will host the Ithaca Invitational on Feb. 18 and then compete in the UNYSCSA/Empire 8 Championship meet Feb. 22-25.
