Wilkes-Barre, Pa. -- The Ithaca College wrestling team (13-3) won six of the final seven bouts to rally from a 13-0 deficit to beat host Wilkes (15-4) Friday.
The Colonels -- who saw thier 11-match winning streak come to an end -- won by major decision, forfeit and decision in the tirst three bouts before the Bombers stasrted their comeback.
Senior
Jeremy Stierly, ranked third nationally, scored Ithaca's first points, recording a 12-3 major decision at 149 pounds. Stierly is now 4-1 this season, with three of his wins coming by major decision. His career record stands at 83-18.
Senior
Derek Brenon and graduate student
Nick Sanko followed with decisions at 157 and 165, respectively. Brenon won by a 9-5 count to raise his season record to 12-4. He's 4-2 in dual matches and 55-13 in his Ithaca career. Sanko, ranked sixth nationally, won 2-1 with the margin of victory coming from his riding time advantage.
At 174 pounds,
Jules Doliscar, Division III's top-ranked wrestler, picked up his third major decision of the year by winning 12-3. His win gave the Bombers their first lead of the night. He's 29-3 on the season and has earned bonus points in 20 of his victories.
Freshman
Grant Dickey posted a 6-3 decision at 184 pounds to give the Bombers a 17-13 advantage. Dickey is now 13-11 with a 4-2 mark in dual matches.
Senior
Matt Mahon was a 4-3 winner in the heavyweight bout with the host Colonels trailing by just a point. Mahon is 22-7 this season (11-4 in duals) and 87-33 in his career.
The Bombers wrap up their dual-meet season Wednesday, hosting #13 Cortland at 7 p.m.
