Hoboken, N.J. – The Ithaca men's basketball team (6-9, 3-1 Empire 8) had its three-game winning streak snapped with a 82-61 loss at Stevens Institute of Technology (12-2, 4-0 Empire 8) on Saturday afternoon. Stevens, who is in sole possession of first place in the Empire 8, outscored Ithaca, 47-21, in the latter half to surge to victory.
Ithaca held a nine-point lead in the first half before holding a 40-35 gap at the break. The teams exchanged buckets early in the second, but a 16-1 Stevens run ultimately buried the Bombers' chance at a comeback as the Ducks won their sixth straight contest.

Frank Mitchell (Hillsborough/Hillsborough, N.J.) posted a team-best 13 points and led the Bombers with six boards and three steals. Sophomore Christian Jordan

Jordan Healey (Summit/Summit, N.J.) each chipped in eight points.
The Bombers took a five-point lead at 10:16 in the first before the Ducks answered with a four-point lead less than three minutes later. Ithaca pieced together a 17-4 stretch to gain a nine-point margin, 39-30, at 2:42, before entering intermission with a 40-35 edge.
The lead flip-flopped back-and-forth early in the second and was last tied, 48-48, at 15:43 before Stevens took control of the game. Over a six-minute period, the Ducks held Ithaca to just one point, while scoring 16 of their own to take a 64-49 lead at the 10-minute mark.
Stevens continued to dominate, shooting 45.5 percent in the second stint to Ithaca's 29.6 percent, and twice led by 23 points before securing the 82-61 victory.
The Ducks doubled Ithaca's effort on the boards with a 52-26 advantage as Stevens tallied 27 second-chance points to Ithaca's 10.
The Bombers will next host Elmira at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20.
