Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca field hockey team (2-4, 1-1 Empire 8) dropped a 2-1 Empire 8 decision to visiting Hartwick (2-5, 1-1 Empire 8) on Saturday at Higgins Stadium.
The Hawks found the back of the cage twice in the first frame, broken up by an Ithaca score, but the Bombers were unable to capitalize on nine second-half corners to knot the game.
Hartwick tallied at 12:55 off a deflected ball, but Ithaca answered 21 seconds later to force a 1-1 stalemate.
Sophomore
Laura Ramsey (McMahon/Norwalk, Conn.) collected a loose ball and scored unassisted at 13:16 – her first collegiate goal.
Hartwick, who outshot Ithaca 16-12, made it a 2-1 game with 8:10 lingering in the first half.
The Bombers earned nine of their 11 penalty corners in the second stint and were awarded a penalty stroke, but weren't able to find the back of the cage in the latter 35 minutes of play.
Junior
Kelly Singleton (Irondequoit/Rochester) made 11 stops in cage for the Bombers. She has posted double-digit performances in each of the Bombers' six contests this season.
Ithaca will next host Oneonta for a non-conference game on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 4 p.m.
