Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca field hockey team (2-3) picked up its second consecutive victory with a 3-1 win over Oswego (2-6) Tuesday afternoon at Higgins Stadium. It was the first-ever win for the Bombers on their new home field.
Ithaca wasted little time in taking the lead as junior forward
Julia Conroy (Westfield/Westfield, N.J.) scored her second goal of the season in the sixth minute on a pass from freshman forward
Natalie Lynch (C.W. Baker/Baldwinsville). It was the first-career point for
Lynch, who passed from the right side of the circle to
Conroy who was stationed in front of the cage.
Oswego knotted the score two minutes later, before Ithaca tallied the game-deciding goals.
The Bombers went ahead with 6:05 left in the first half on an unassisted goal by sophomore midfielder
Katie Kennedy (Cicero-North Syracuse/Clay).
Lynch's initial shot was saved, but
Kennedy scored on a rebound attempt. Ithaca scored again early in the second half when sophomore forward
Lindsay Flanagan (Cicero-North Syracuse/Cicero) got her second goal of the year on a deflection.
Kennedy earned the assist to finish with three points in the game, and she now leads the Bombers in scoring with five points on the year.
Junior goalkeeper
Kelly Singleton (Irondequoit/Rochester) made 12 saves and earned the victory. It was the fifth consecutive game this season in which
Singleton has recorded double-digit saves.
Tuesday's victory was the start of a four-game Ithaca homestand, which continues Saturday at 1 p.m. against Hartwick.
