Nationally-Ranked Cortland Upends Ithaca Field Hockey

Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. - The #11 Cortland Red Dragons (1-0) scored three second-half goals and went on to a 3-1 victory over the Ithaca (0-1) field hockey team Thursday afternoon at Higgins Stadium. Senior forward Heather Kozimor (Hackettstown/Vienna, N.J.) scored Ithaca's goal.

The Bombers and Red Dragons played through a scoreless first half, and Ithaca held territorial advantage over the final 20 minutes of the half. Ithaca earned five penalty corners in the opening half to Cortland's two. Cortland scored three goals in the second half, and Ithaca answered on Kozimor's tally in the 64th minute, she scored on a deflection in front of the net. The long pass from the right side of midfield came from sophomore midfielder Sam English (Ocean Township/Ocean, N.J.), and Kozimor redirected the ball from eight yards out.

Junior goalkeeper Kelly Singleton (Irondequoit/Rochester) made 11 saves for the Bombers. Ithaca returns to action Sept. 10 at Wellesley.
