Cortland, N.Y. – The 26th-ranked Ithaca men's lacrosse team (5-3) suffered a 13-4 loss to local rival #5 Cortland (6-2) in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

The Bombers jumped out to a convincing 2-0 lead, holding the host Red Dragons scoreless in the first quarter, but Cortland responded netting six in the second period to lead by four at the break. The Red Dragons continued its streak with an additional four in the third and the first in the final period to tally 11 unanswered and lead by nine with 12:29 left on the game clock. The Bombers scored two of the game's final four goals in the 13-4 setback.

Senior Ryan Lowe (Fairport/Fairport) opened all scoring at 10:51 in the first on an unassisted score before junior Tom Mongelli (Kinnelon/Kinnelon, N.J.) used an assist from junior Devin Weinshank (Long Beach/Long Beach) to award the Bombers a 2-0 opening advantage.

Senior Michael Silipo (Williston Northampton/Deerfield, Mass.) snapped the Bombers' scoring drought and Cortland's 11-goal streak with an Ithaca score at the 10-minute mark of the final stanza. Cortland answered with two additional before Mongelli netted his second of the contest to finalize all scoring at 13-4.

Senior David Gal (Loomis Chafee (Conn.)/Amherst, Mass.) suffered the loss in goal for the Bombers, despite turning away a season-best 17 shots.

Junior Chris Duncan (Regis Jesuit/Denver, Colo.) collected a game- and career-best 10 ground balls for the Bombers, while sophomore Adam Wacenske (Gates-Chili/Rochester) forced a team-high two turnovers.
