Gymnasts Defeat D-III Competition, Outscored by D-II and D-I Teams

Lauren Ferrone scored a season-high 9.150 on balance beam

New Haven, Conn. – The #5 Ithaca gymnastics team (3-4) defeated the only other Division III school in a five-team meet and dropped decisions against Division II teams Bridgeport and Southern Connecticut State, as well as Division I Yale Saturday in a meet hosted by Southern Connecticut. The Bombers scored 181.100. Bridgeport socred 189.600 to pace the field, followed by Yale (186.925), Southern Connecticut (186.750), Ithaca, and Rhode Island College (169.250).

Ithaca posted its season-best total on vault with a team score of 46.350 on that rotation and all five scorers scored 9.200 or higher in that event. Sophomore Jessica Bolduc (Darien/Darien, Conn.) scored 9.425 to lead Ithaca and place eighth overall on that event. Bolduc also finished in the top-10 overall individuals on uneven bars, where she was eighth with a score of 9.475. Bolduc and sophomore Kay Gordon (Summit/Breckenridge, Colo.) tied for eighth overall on balance beam with identical scores of 9.250.

Bolduc and Gordon were Ithaca's competitors in all-around. Bolduc totaled 37.175 to finish fifth and Gordon scored 35.800 to place eighth.

Ithaca competes again next Saturday across town at Cornell in a meet that also includes Southern Connecticut, Towson and Bridgeport.
