#6 Bombers Win Tri-Meet at Ursinus

Kimberly Callahan placed first on balance beam with a career-high score

Collegeville, Pa. – The Ithaca gymnastics team (7-9) finished first in a field of three teams in a tri meet at Ursinus. The Bombers scored a season-best 184.925, followed by Ursinus (181.500) and Wilson (167.600). It is the third straight meet that Ithaca has increased its teams total, setting a higher season-best total each time.

Sophomores Jessica Bolduc (Darien/Darien, Conn.) and Kimberly Callahan (Rockland/Rockland, Mass.) were event winners for the Bombers. Bolduc placed first on the vault with a score of 9.55 and Callahan won balance beam with a season and career-best score of 9.425. Callahan also placed first on balance beam earlier this season in a meet at Rhode Island College.

Bolduc was second on uneven bars (9.45) and in all-around (37.675), and third on balance beam (9.3) and floor exercise (9.375). Bolduc's all-around score was her highest of the season. Sophomore Kay Gordon (Summit/Breckenridge, Colo.) placed third on all-around with a season-high score of 36.775. She posted strong scores on vault (9.35) and bars (9.1) as part of her all-around total, finishing fourth in both events.

Junior Kailee Spusta (Palmyra-Macedon/Macedon) was second on floor exercise with a score of 9.525 and freshman Katie Sampson (Erindale Secondary/Mississauga, Ontario) was third on floor with a score of 9.4. Other top-five event finishers for Ithaca included sophomore Samantha Whiffen (Sharon/Sharon, Mass.) on vault (4th, 9.35); senior Rachel Taylor (San Pasqual/Escondido, Calif.) on bars (5th, 8.95); and senior Brianne Sullivan (Schuylerville/Gansevoort) on balance beam (4th, 9.275).
