Geneseo Defeats Ithaca Field Hockey

Geneseo, N.Y. - The Ithaca field hockey team (5-9) concluded its non-conference season with a 4-1 defeat at Geneseo (15-1) Tuesday afternoon on Merritt Field. The Bombers will finish their Empire 8 season Saturday at Hartwick, as Ithaca continues to chase a conference playoff berth.

Ithaca's goal came in the second half, as senior Katherine Brown (Akron/Akron) scored for Ithaca on a rebound. It was Brown's second goal of the season, and she has eight points on the year, tied for third on the team in scoring.

Ithaca earned 11 penalty corners in the contest. Sophomore goalkeeper Kelly Singleton (Irondequoit/Rochester) started and made eight saves in the first half. Sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Grassi (Rondout Valley/Kerhonkson) played the second half, and allowed just one goal while making four saves.
