Syracuse, N.Y. – The Ithaca women's swimming & diving team set three pool records and opened its season with a 172-71 win at Le Moyne Saturday afternoon.
Senior
Sheila Rhoades (Dryden/Dryden) was part of all three records, as she set timing bests in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle and on the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Rhoades won the 50 free in 24.42 seconds, the 100 free in 53.05 seconds and teamed with freshman Kate Sessler
(Livonia/Livonia), sophomore
Carly Jones (Liverpool/Liverpool) and senior
Joanna Ferreri (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) to win the 400 free relay in 3:42.71.
Ithaca started the meet with a relay victory, as junior
Missy Keesler (Union-Endicott/Endicott), sophomore
Madi Sherry (Orchard Park/Orchard Park), graduate student
Jen Heberton (Darien/Darien, Conn.) and
Sessler won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:52.38.
Freshman diver
Korie Fackler (Central Dauphin East/Harrisburg, Pa.) won both diving events. She scored 207.36 on the 1-meter board and 159.10 on the 3-meter board.
Four other individuals were event-winners for the Bombers. Junior
Kelly Murphy (Blake/Silver Spring, Md.) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:32.45,
Sherry won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:08.58,
Jones won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:13.60 and
Heberton won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.39.
Ithaca hosts its first home dual of the year Saturday when Rensselaer visits for women's and men's duals, beginning with diving events at 10 a.m.
