Women's Swim & Dive Wins Sixth Straight Dual

Sheila Rhoades was part of four event wins and two pool records

Rochester, N.Y. - The Ithaca women's swimming and diving team (10-1) swam its current winning streak to six consecutive dual meets and seven overall competitive events with a 206-91 win at Rochester. The Bombers set two pool records and won 14 of the 16 events in the meet.

Junior Sheila Rhoades (Dryden/Dryden) was part of four event victories and set two pool records. Rhoades won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:55.93 and the 50 free in 24.25 seconds. Both times established records at Rochester's Speegle-Wilbraham Aquatic Center. Rhoades also anchored Ithaca's winning 400 medley relay team which opened the meet with a win in 4:03.67 and she won the 100 free in 53.53 seconds.

Junior Becca Blazak (Quaker Valley/Sewickley, Pa.), sophomore Kelly Murphy (Blake/Silver Spring, Md.) and sophomore Missy Keesler (Union-Endicott/Endicott) each won two individual events for the Bombers. Blazak won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.88) and 200 breast (2:32.05). Murphy won both distance-freestyle events, capturing the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:56.04 and 500 free in 5:22.68. Keesler won both backstroke events, the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.32 and 200 back in 2:10.86. Blazak and Keesler also joined Rhoades on the winning 400 medley relay team.

Freshman Carly Jones (Liverpool/Liverpool), the fourth member of Ithaca's winning relay, won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:12.65. Sophomore Cali DeSanto (Mexico/Mexico) won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:01.99.

Bomber divers senior Naomi Mark (Dansville/Dansville) and sophomore Jodi Costello (Framingham/Framingham, Mass.) finished first and second in both diving events. Mark was first on the 1-meter board (215.40 points) and second on 3-meter (216.85 points). Costello won the 3-meter event (227.95 points) and was second on 1-meter (196.65 points).

Ithaca returns home to the Hill Center Pool and will host Alfred at 2 p.m. Saturday.
