Ithaca is in third place in the Empire 8

ITHACA, N.Y.--The Bombers fell 76-66 to St. John Fisher (14-3, 8-0 Empire 8) 76-66 Saturday night at Ben Light Gymnasium. The loss snapped Ithaca's three-game winning streak. Four players reached double figures in points for Ithaca (13-5, 6-3 Empire 8), with junior Chris Cruz-Rivas (West Genesee/Syrcause) leading all players with 17.

Sophomore Jordan Marcus (Solomon Schechter/West Orange, N.J.) and freshman Sean Rossi (Sparta/Sparta, N.J.) each scored 15 points for the Bombers. Junior Phil Barera (Belmont/Belmont, Mass.) chipped in 14. With a game-leading nine rebounds, Barera narrowly missed his eighth double-double of the season. Marcus grabbed a career-best seven boards.

Rossi tallied five assists with classmate Eli Maravich (Chartiers Valley/Pittsburgh, Pa.) adding three.

Falling behind 21-13 to open the game, Ithaca rallied to take a 29-28 lead with six minutes to play in the first half. Cruz-Rivas, Marcus and Rossi all hit three-point field goals in the Bombers' 15-8 run. Ithaca was still ahead with four minutes to play before the Cardinals closed the half on a 12-4 run to retake the lead.

The St. John Fisher lead increased to as many as 17 points in the second half. Ithaca cut the lead to seven at 73-66 with 1:29 to play but would not score again. The Cardinals made four free throws in the game's final two minutes to seal the win.

The Bombers are idle until Jan. 31 when they take on Rochester Institute of Technology on the road. Ithaca rallied from a 25-point deficit to defeat RIT 81-80 at Ben Light Gymnasium on Tuesday.
