School-Record Three-Point Barrage Leads Ithaca Past Alfred

ITHACA, N.Y. – The men's basketball team (11-4, 4-2 Empire 8) snapped a two-game losing streak, exploding for a school-record 18 three-point baskets in a 108-69 win over visiting Alfred (6-7, 0-5) Friday.

Sophomore guard Jordan Marcus (Solomon Schechter/West Orange, N.J.) led the way with eight three-point baskets (the program's second-highest single-game total). Marcus scored 31 points and raised his career total to 108 three-pointers (10th all time at Ithaca). Sophomore guard Eli Maravich (Chartiers Valley/Pittsburgh, Pa.) netted a career-best 15 points off the bench, including three three-pointers. Freshman guard Andrei Oztemel (Staples/Westport, Conn.) also made three three-point baskets off the bench.

Junior forward Phil Barera (Belmont/Belmont, Mass.) recorded his seventh career double-double, finishing with 19 points and a career-best 14 rebounds. He also blocked three shots.

Freshman point guard Sean Rossi (Sparta/Sparta, N.J.) dished out 10 assists, raising his season total to 123; through 15 games he already ranks 13th on the program's single-season list – 16 away from the top 10.

Junior guard Chris Cruz-Rivas (West Genesee/Syracuse) finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Senior center Tom Brown (Bayport-Blue Point/Bayport) collected eight points, seven rebounds and a career-best three assists.

Ithaca never trailed and had opened a 21-point lead after just 9:49. the Bombers' 108 points was the program's highest total ever against Alfred and raised their all-time series lead to 33-18. They've won the last 16 meetings.

The Bombers continue their four-game homestand Saturday, hosting Stevens at 4 p.m.
