Women's Basketball Loses To St. John Fisher

Ithaca participated in the WBCA's Pink Zone initiative for breast cancer awareness research

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The women's basketball team (15-8, 11-3 Empire 8) lost 56-45 to St. John Fisher (15-7, 8-5 Empire 8) Saturday. The outcome marks the first Bomber loss at home this season. The team has a 7-1 record at the Ben Light Gymnasium this year.

Ithaca trailed 29-20 at the end of the first half. The Bombers jumped out to a 7-0 run to begin the 2nd half as they cut the lead down to two, but the visiting Cardinals used a 14-4 run to answer and extend its lead to 12 points.

Junior guard Lindsay Brown (Immaculate/Danbury, Conn.) shot 6-of-14 from the field to record 15 points. She added five rebounds and three assists. Sophomore forward Elissa Klie (Ramapo/Wyckoff, N.J.) contributed eight points and nine rebounds. Klie, who is ranked fourth in the conference in blocked shots (21) and second in steals (35), posted four blocks and three steals on the defensive side to add to her totals. Senior guard Megan Rumschik (Wiliamsville East/East Amherst) had a career-high four assists and tied a career-best by grabbing seven rebounds.

Senior forward Tracy Bradley (Lewiston/Brunswick/Maine) recorded her sixth career double-double with eleven points and eleven rebounds. She tallied a game-high four steals to lead a defensive effort that notched 14 for the game. Brown and Rumschik each added three steals.

The Bombers play at Nazareth Friday at 6 p.m.
