Schenectady, N.Y.--Ithaca (16-13) closed the Union Interleague Challenge with a loss to Skidmore (16-5), falling 25-20, 25-21, 23-25, 27-25 to the Thoroughbreds (16-5). Junior Taylor Horton (Lakeride/Lake Oswego, Ore.) had a career-best 23 digs in the match.
Fellow junior Tina Orlandini (Flintridge Sacred Heart/Altadena, Calif.) also eclipsed 20, picking up 22 digs. She also had a pair of aces.
As a team, the Bombers collected 24 blocks. Sophomore Kate Thoene (Voorhees/High Bridge, N.J.) had a match-high 8, and classmates Elizabeth Previte (Hunterdon/Flemington, N.J.) and Karin Edsall (Cornwall Central/Cornwall) added five and four, respectively,
Offensively, senior Rachel Busch (Hoover/North Canton, Ohio) lead the Bombers with 19 kills. Classmate Corinna Doctor (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) tallied 41 assists and an ace.
Ithaca is idle until Oct. 20, when they play at Oneonta.
