Geneva, N.Y. – The Ithaca field hockey team (2-3) lost 6-1 at William Smith Wednesday afternoon. William Smith is ranked 11th in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll.

William Smith (4-0) scored twice in the first 10 minutes. The Bombers responded before halftime off a penalty corner. Junior Krista Fieselmann (Bridgewater/Bridgewater, N.J.) scored the goal on an assist from senior Elyse Green (Shawnee/Medford, N.J.). The goal was Fieselmann's second of the season.

Junior goalkeeper Chelsea Welsh (Scotia-Glenville/Scotia) made 12 saves in the match.

Ithaca will host Washington & Jefferson Saturday at 1 p.m. It is the Empire 8 opener for the Bombers.
