Rochester, N.Y.—Ithaca (11-9) volleyball opened the Nazareth Invitational with a win over Brockport (8-15), defeating the Golden Eagles 25-21, 25-22, 25-27, 25-18. Junior
Jen Heberton (Darien/Darien, Ct.) picked up a double-double with 14 kills and 13 digs. The Bomber freshmen were key contributors on both sides of the ball, combining for 21 kills and 10 blocks.
The two teams played to a 13-13 tie to open the first set. Ithaca scored the next four points to take control of the set, highlighted by a service ace from junior setter
Corinna Doctor (Skaneateles/Skaneateles). The ace tied her with
Laurie Roberts '93 for seventh on the Bombers' career list. With two aces in the match,
Doctor now holds the seventh spot by herself with 204 career aces.
Brockport scored quickly in the second set, leading by as many as five points at 13-8. Ithaca rallied to tie the score, with a well-placed kill from junior
Francine Nikas (Greenwich/Greenwich, Ct.) landing just inside the right sideline and tying the score at 14. The two teams played the next ten points evenly, with and ace from Ithaca sophomore
Taylor Horton (Lakeridge/Lake Oswego, Ore.) tying the score at 20.

Elizabeth Previte (Hunterdon/Flemington, N.J.) combined on a block that gave the Bombers the lead for good.
Previte led the team with five total blocks and added 8 kills.
After dropping the third set, the Bombers took early control of the fourth, jumping out to a 16-8 lead. Ithaca had four runs of at least four points in the match-clinching win.
The Bombers continue play at Nazareth at 8 p.m. against Rochester Institute of Technology.
