#12 Cortland Beats Ithaca Field Hockey

Cortland, N.Y. – The Ithaca field hockey team (6-8) lost 6-0 at nationally-ranked Cortland (13-1) Wednesday afternoon. The Red Dragons are ranked 12th in the nation by the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll.

Ithaca junior goalkeeper Courtney Dowell (Massapequa/Massapequa) played the first half and made seven saves. Junior Chelsea Welsh (Scotia-Glenville/Scotia) played in the second half and had four saves. Three Bombers also made defensive saves in the game – seniors Marisa Frank (Bow/Bow, N.H.) and Ally Swink (Downingtown East/Downingtown, Pa.) and sophomore Mia Muzio (Rockport/Rockport, Mass.).

The Bombers earned four penalty corners in the second half and had 11 shots in the contest.

Ithaca returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. against Oswego on Yavits Field, where the Bombers are 6-1 this season.
