ITHACA, N.Y. -- Junior running back #Thomas Bergerstock# (Webster Thomas/Webster) ran for 196 yards and four touchdowns as the #23 Bombers (5-1) posted a 51-24 win over visiting Frostburg State (2-4) in a non-league game.

Bergerstock raised his season figures to 890 yards and 11 touchdowns through six games; he's already recorded the program's 10th-highest single-season yardage total. He scored on three straight Bomber dives as Ithaca erased a 7-0 deficit to take control.

The Bombers opened up leads of 28-7 and 37-17; Frostburg State scored four plays into the first quarter to close to within 37-24, but after the Bobcats went three-and-out on their next drive, Ithaca senior #Jason Chier# (Chenango Forks/Binghamton) returned their punt 61 yards for a touchdown.

Ithaca ran for a season-best 272 yards; the Bombers' 37:09 time of possession was also a season-high mark.

Senior quarterback #Dan Juvan# (Dobbs Ferry/Yonkers) completed 21 of 34 passes for 217 yards and a seven-yard scoring pass to senior wide receiver #Zach Connett# (Dobbs Ferry/Dobbs Ferry). The touchdown was the first of Connett's career.

Sophomore running back #Matt Crandall# (Cattaraugus-Little Valley/Cattaraugus) closed out the scoring with a 14-yard fourth-quarter touchdown run. Freshman kicker #Andrew Rogowski# (Canisius/East Amherst) converted all seven of his extra-point attempts. The Bombers picked up a safety early in the second half when Connett chased Frostburg State's punter out of the end zone following a bad snap.

Ithaca's defense held the Bobcats to 84 rushing yards and one-of-11 efficiency on third down. Senior linebacker #John Scanlon# (Amity/Choate Rosemary Hall/Bethany, Conn.) led the Bombers with 10 tackles, including two for loss. He forced a fumble that sophomore strong safety #David Ahonen# (Victor/Farmington) recovered in the second quarter to set up Ithaca's go-ahead touchdown. Ahonen intercepted a pass on Frostburg State's next drive to set up another touchdown.

Freshman cornerback Spencer White (Sleepy Hollow/Yonkers) added nine tackles for Ithaca. Senior linebacker #Matt Scalice# (North Tonawanda/North Tonawanda) collected two tackles for loss and a pair of pass break-ups. Freshman linebacker #Ryan Clarke# (Archbishop Spaulding/West Friendship, Md.) made seven stops. Chier broke up two passes in addition to scoring his third career special teams touchdown.

Ithaca remains home for a conference game against Utica next Saturday.
