2009 game-by-game statistics

2008: Scalice emerged as one of the nation’s top linebackers, earning first-team all-America honors from D3football.com. He was named Empire 8 and East Region Defensive Player of the Year and was a first-team pick to the conference, region and ECAC Upstate NY all-star teams. Scalice led the Bombers with 89 tackles and a pair of fumble recoveries and his 12 sacks and eight pass break-ups both ranked second on the team. He was named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week after collecting 10 tackles (with two for loss) in the Utica win and was also picked as Ithaca’s Outstanding Lineman. He also earned the team’s Outstanding Lineman Award after the following week’s win over Springfield and the next week he collected a season-best 15 tackles (with two pass break-ups and two tackles for loss) in the come-from-behind win at Alfred. At the team’s postseason banquet he was named the inaugural winner of the program’s John Fasolino Award.

2007: Scalice was named a first-team Empire 8 and ECAC all-star and earned third-team all-region honors from D3football.com. He was named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week after collecting four tackles for loss and two sacks in the Homecoming win over Norwich. He forced a fumble in that game and was named the team’s Outstanding Lineman and Honorary Defensive Captain. Scalice was also named Ithaca’s Honorary Defensive Captain after the Hartwick and Cortland wins and was picked as the team’s Outstanding Lineman following the St. John Fisher, Utica and Cortland games. He recorded a career-high 19 tackles against St. John Fisher and picked up 12 in the win over #19 Alfred. Scalice was the team’s leading tackler (98) and his 15 tackles for loss ranked second among Ithaca’s linebackers.

2006: Scalice stepped into a starting role and led the Bombers in tackles for loss and fumble recoveries while starting every game at inside linebacker. His 68 tackles ranked second on the team. Scalice was named Ithaca’s Honorary Defensive Captain after collecting nine tackles (three for loss) in the win over #14 Springfield. He recorded a career-best 12 tackles at St. John Fisher. Scalice made six tackles at Alfred and was picked as the team’s Outstanding Lineman. He picked up three tackles for loss in the win at Norwich.

2006 game-by-game statistics

2005: Scalice played in three games before an injury sidelined him for the rest of the season. He made his first career start in the win at Hartwick and finished with nine tackles and a pass break-up. He recorded three tackles and broke up a pass in the season-opening victory at Buffalo State.

Career statistics

High School: A 2005 graduate of North Tonawanda High School, he was coached by Eric Jantzi. He was all-state, all-region and a two-time captain.

Personal: A student in Ithaca’s MBA program who earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration in May, he is the son of Don and Carol Scalice. His brother, Joe, was an all-American offensive tackle for Ithaca before graduating in 2006.
