Rochester, N.Y. – The Ithaca field hockey team (5-7) dropped a 4-1 game Wednesday against Rochester (10-6) at Fauver Stadium. The loss snapped a two-game Bomber winning streak. Rochester took a 3-0 lead in the first half, despite Ithaca holding an advantage in penalty corners over the first 35 minutes.
Ithaca got on the board in the 43rd minute when Courtney Clark (Camden/Boonville) redirected a shot from Katherine Brown (Akron/Akron) from the right side. It was Clark's fourth goal of the season, a career high, and Brown's team-leading fifth assist.
That goal reduced the deficit to two goals, but Rochester answered in the 52nd minute to re-establish a three-goal lead and account for the final score.
Ithaca held a 10-6 advantage in penalty corners in the game.
Junior goalkeeper Courtney Dowell (Massapequa/Massapequa) made seven saves for the Bombers and Annie Onzik (Bishop O'Reilly/Shavertown, Pa.) made a defensive save.
Ithaca returns to Empire 8 play Saturday at 1 p.m. on Yavits Field, hosting Utica.
