Bombers Defeat Oneonta 28-11

Fifth-ranked senior Robert Stubbs stands just four wins away from 100.
Oneonta, N.Y. -- The Bombers beat Oneonta 28-11 Wednesday to raise their record to 7-6.

In the 174-pound weight class, third-ranked senior Matthias Keib (G. Ray Bodley/Fulton) took his opponent to overtime where he was able to score an escape and a take down to win 4-1 in the second extra period. The win was the 92nd on Keib’s career; he moves past Dan Bieller for 17th on Ithaca’s all-time win list.

Ithaca ran off 21 straight points including four points on a major decision by senior Jad Duca (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick). Duca was the 157-pound champion two weeks ago at the New York State Collegiate championships and entered the match having won 19 consecutive bouts. Senior Brian Lockard (Upper Dublin/Dresher, Pa.) notched his first fall of the season in 3:39. Senior Rob Stubbs (MacArthur/Levittown), currently ranked fifth in the nation, pinned his opponent at 2:53. Stubbs is now four wins away from becoming the 12th Bomber to reach 100.

The Bombers return to action Saturday, when they travel to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. to face 30th-ranked Wilkes. The meet is set to begin at 2 p.m.
