2004-05: Duca made his second trip to nationals, earning a wild card bid after his second-place finish at the ECWC championship meet. He earned the sixth seed at the NCAA Championships. Duca opened the season with a third-place finish at the Ithaca Invitational. He was third on the team in wins and pins and fifth in takedowns and team points. His 13-1 mark in dual meets was Ithaca’s second-best record. Duca went 5-0 at the Budd Whitehill National Duals, helping the Bombers to the team title.
2003-04: Duca sat out the season as a redshirt.
2002-03: Duca enjoyed a spectacular sophomore season, winning 33 matches (tying the program’s fifth-best single-season total) and earning a trip to nationals, where he defeated the tournament’s fourth seed in the opening round. A wild-card selection to the NCAA Championships, he secured his spot by forcing the nation’s top-ranked wrestler to forfeit in the true second place match at the ECWC meet. Duca also earned all-state honors (placing seventh) and was a named an NWCA Scholar All-American. He won his first career tournament title at Millersville’s Shorty Hitchcock Memorial Classic, where the Bombers were the only non-Division I team. He was also a place-winner at RIT (second) and Roger Williams (fourth). He ranked second on the team in wins, takedowns and points.
2001-02: As a freshman, Duca placed in two tournaments. He recorded a fourth-place showing at the Morrisville Invitational, where he was the team’s top finisher. Duca was the runner-up at 149 pounds at the freshman/sophomore state championships.
High School: At South Brunswick High School Duca was coached by Joe Dougherty.
Personal: A computer information systems major, he is the son of Joseph and Kathleen Duca.
