Bombers Split With Clarkson

Potsdam, N.Y. -- Ithaca split a doubleheader at Clarkson, winning the nightcap 16-7 after losing game one 3-2. The Bombers loaded the bases in the seventh inning of the opener. In the nightcap, a six-run third inning put them up 12-2. Senior outfielder Ben McBride (Ridgefield/Ridgefield, Conn.) scored four
runs, singled twice and drove in two runs. Freshman catcher Rob Raux (Ilion/Frankfort) singled and doubled, drove in four runs and scored two more. Junior first baseman PJ Canestrari (Ironia/Randolph, N.J.) added two hits and three RBI’s. Junior shortstop Rob Litz (Walkill/Walkill) finished with three hits and two RBI’s. Senior second baseman Marty  O’Boyle (Verona/Verona, N.J.) and freshman third baseman Josh Smith (Pulaski/Pulaski) each contributed two hits. Smith, who scored four runs, hit his team-best fifth home run of the season. Senior Tom O’Connor (Weedsport/Weedsport) earned the win, allowing two runs over five innings. The victory was the 21st of his career, good for a seventh-place tie on the program’s all-time list.
