Late Rally Sends Baseball to Series-Opening Win at St. Lawrence, 8-6

CANTON, N.Y. — The Ithaca College baseball team earned an 8–6 Liberty League victory over St. Lawrence on Friday afternoon, using a four-run eighth inning to pull away at Tom Fay Field. Ithaca improves to 15–11 overall on the season and is 5-5 in the division.

St. Lawrence struck first with a three-run bottom of the first inning, highlighted by an RBI double from John Donnellan, giving the Saints early momentum. Ithaca responded and eventually evened the score in the fourth inning. Ethan Fantel sparked the rally with a solo home run to right field, and the Bombers capitalized on defensive miscues later to score two additional runs and tie the game at 3–3.

After several scoreless innings by both teams, St. Lawrence regained the lead in the seventh with a two-run single by Nolan Widrick, going ahead 5–3. Ithaca answered immediately in the eighth with its biggest offensive push of the day. A double from Camden Laney brought in a run, followed by an RBI groundout from Isaiah Smith that tied the game. Nate Rodriguez delivered the turning point with a two-run home run to left center, giving the Bombers a 7–5 advantage.

Ithaca added a run in the ninth when Fantel doubled home another run, extending the lead to three before St. Lawrence scratched one back in the bottom half.

On the mound, Danny Drotos earned the win after working 7.0 innings, allowing five runs while striking out three and keeping Ithaca within striking distance through the middle innings. Cooper Albert tossed the eighth and Luke Zelinko closed the door in the ninth to secure the save.

Offensively, Fantel led the way with three hits, a home run, and three RBIs, while Lucas Orlovitz also collected three hits. Rodriguez finished with a home run and two RBIs, and Laney chipped in a key RBI double during the eighth-inning surge.

With the win, Ithaca moves to a 15-11 record, putting them one game above .500 (7-6) in conference play. The Bombers look to keep this momentum going in tomorrow's doubleheader against the Saints.
