No. 20 Field Hockey Cruises to 5-0 Win at St. John Fisher

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 20 Ithaca College field hockey team posted its third shutout win of the season as the Bombers topped St. John Fisher University, 5-0, on Saturday at Growney Stadium. The Bombers are now 3-1 on the season.

Ithaca put home three first quarter goals to put the game away early. Sadie Ruiz tallied the first goal of the contest just 2:16 into the period and then Audrey McMahon scored four minutes later off a pass from Abby Hennessy.

Brooke Snider made it 3-0 with just over two minutes to go in the quarter off assists from Margaret Lansley and Amelia MacDonald.

IC then added two more goals in the second half as Toni Ierardi found the back of the cage on an unassisted tally 10 minutes into the third quarter and then Payton Yahner notched the fifth goal of the matchup off an assist from McMahon with nine minutes left to play.

The Bombers dominated on the offensive end of the field with a 32-2 differential in shots and an 11-3 edge in corners.

Maeve Clark and Abby Cannon split time in goal for the Bombers. Clark made two saves in the first half to earn the win.

Ithaca returns home next Wednesday, September 10 for a 7 p.m. contest against Cortland at Higgins Stadium.
