DALLAS, Pa. - The nationally ranked No. 20 Ithaca College Bombers bounced back on Wednesday September 3, going on the road and shutting out Misericordia University 4-0 behind four different goal-scorers, including three unassisted goals.
After a scoreless first quarter, the game broke in favor of the Bombers. After outshooting the home squad 4-0 in the first quarter, the Bombers were finally able to find the back of the net in the second. Less than one minute into the quarter at the 15:45 mark junior midfielder
Payton Yahner gave her team a spark with an unassisted goal. This is Yahner's first goal of the new season and third for her career.Â
The Bombers were not done, less than one minute later
Breeah Shaw recorded her first collegiate goal and points. The junior midfielder came off the bench for the Bombers and made an immediate impact with this play and the Bombers were now in front 2-0.Â
The Bombers controlled this game from start to finish, outshooting their opponent 24-1 including 10 shots on goal. The Cougar's lone shot on net came in the third quarter which was saved by Bombers junior goalie
Maeve Clark. Clark has only allowed two goals through three games, saving 12 of the 14 shots on goal against her.Â
In the fourth quarter the Bombers added two more goals to their lead courtesy of sophomore striker
Mia Woodard and junior midfielder
Audrey McMahon. Woodard's goal which was unassisted was early in the period at the 47:13 mark. This was Woodard's first goal of the new season and third of her career.Â
McMahon found the back of the net just before the final buzzer with only 11 seconds remaining in the contest. The goal was assisted by Yahner, her second of the season. This goal was McMahon's second of the season, making her the first Bomber to score multiple goals this fall.
The Bombers improve to 2-1 and will play their third road contest in a row this Saturday September 6 when they take on St. John Fisher University.Â
