YORK, Pa. - The No. 17-ranked Ithaca College men's wrestling team turned in an impressive performance on Friday during the opening day of the 17th Annual New Standard Invitational, racking up 53.0 team points to sit in third place. Six Bombers remain in contention for titles heading into Saturday's quarterfinal and semifinal rounds.

Cosmo Damiani opened his day with a fall in 6:09 over Harris Keares (Penn College) before dropping a quarterfinal bout to nationally ranked Nico Rivera (Johnson & Wales). He will look to fight his way back through the consolation bracket on Saturday.
Tomah Gummow will look to do the same as he was 2-0, including a 20-2 tech fall and a 12-0 decision over Jaydin Barreto, before falling 8-5 in a tight bout with TCNJ's Joey DeAngelo.

Jay McDonnell went 3-0 to advance to Saturday's semifinals. The sophomore earned bonus points in his first two matches—a pin in 4:15 against Jahir Aguilar (Johnson & Wales) and a 22-3 tech fall over Hayden Best (Misericordia)—before grinding out a 7-5 decision over No. 10 Vincent Ziccardi (Washington & Lee). George McAteer is also in contention with a 17-2 tech fall, while also pinning Patrick Hughes in 6:47. He will take on Ziccardi in his next consolation matchup.

Isaias Torres also reached the semifinals with two major decisions, defeating Brandon Beres (Johnson & Wales) 12-3 and Jacob Grzybek (York) 14-5. First year
Ben White picked up wins over Temuujin Eredentuya (Marymount) and Richard Morales (Alfred) before falling in the quarterfinals; he will continue in the consolation bracket.

Akio Sanders started strong with a pin in 2:37 over Carlos Panchana (Delaware Valley) and a 17-2 tech fall against David Mballa (Penn College) before falling in the quarterfinals.
Brian Bienus also advanced to the quarters after a pin in 4:26 (Nic Rehfuss, Ursinus) and a 9-6 decision over Vincent Faldetta (Johnson & Wales) but dropped a 3-0 decision to Myles Tirpak (Misericordia).
