ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 19-ranked Ithaca College men's wrestling team opened its season in dominant fashion, outscoring eight other programs to capture the team title at the two-day Ithaca Invitational. The Bombers tallied 198.5 points to secure first place, while Vermont State University Castleton finished second with 161 points.

Senior grappler Ryan Galka led the charge and earned Most Outstanding Wrestler honors after posting a perfect 4-0 record. Galka capped his run with a dramatic overtime pin against Springfield's Oliver Parker in the championship bout of 197 lbs. Below is a breakdown of top-3 Ithaca finishers across the weight classes.

125 lbs.: Tomah Gummow (First Place)
After going 2-0 on Friday, Gummow's opponent in the semis medically forfeited. In the championship bout, it proved to be a back-and-forth affair against Castleton's Andrew Marchese. Gummow would prevail with a big-time takedown in the third period that proved to be decisive in the 8-6 decision.

133 lbs.: Jay McDonnell (First Place), George McAteer (Second Place)
Jay McDonnell had a tough matchup and it would go all three rounds before he prevailed in the semis, 5-0 over Castleton's Aidan Shufelt. First year George McAteer went 3-0 on Friday and in his semifinal he was impressive upsetting Penn College of Technology's Blake Dergham in a 6-4 decision. With two Bombers in the championship bout, they avoided each other with McAteer medically forfeiting so McDonnell took home first place at 133.

141 lbs.: Isaias Torres (First Place), Ben White (Second Place)
White continued his impressive debut weekend by upsetting the No. 7 seeded Isaac Quiles of Springfield in a tight 4-2 decision. Quiles had made noise within the bracket on Friday after he took down the No. 2 seeded Michael Santore (Oswego State). Isaias Torres had a ho-hum day as he would successfully connect on a shot in overtime in his semi against Kaden Ware to win 4-2.

Similar to the 133, with two Bombers in the championship they avoided each other with White medically forfeiting.

149 lbs.: Will Bentrim (Third Place)
Bentrim was nipped in a 7-6 decision by Nicholas Balella in his opening semifinal bout. He was able to successfully fight his way through the consolation bracket to come home with a third place finish after he took down Norwich's Billy Burke, pinning him in 4:26 and would score the fall over Joseph Kennedy (Castleton) in 2:47.

157 lbs.: Akio Sanders (Second Place)
Sanders was uber impressive as he scored a 16-4 major decision over Castleton's Dominick Lapier in his semifinal bout. He was stonewalled offensively in the championship as Nate Camisioli won via a 6-0 decision. Camisioli had four pins enroute to the championship and had the most pins of two-day invite.

165 lbs.: Chris Reddy (Third Place)
Reddy would go 2-1 on the day after dropping a close 4-2 decision to Gabe Thomasson. He would pin Cortland's Justin Klein in his consolation semifinal and had a 14-1 major decision over Springfield's Nate Spuhler to claim third.
