ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's wrestling team enters the 2025–26 season with high expectations, opening the year ranked No. 19 in the NWCA Division III Men's Coaches Preseason Poll. The Bombers return a talented and experienced lineup featuring four of last year's five NCAA Region II qualifiers, including All-Americans Isaias Torres (2024) and Xavier Pommells (2025).

The 2024–25 campaign was a standout year for Ithaca, highlighted by multiple SUNYAC and NYS individual titles, a runner-up finish at the NCAA Region II Championships, and five NCAA Championship qualifiers. With four nationally ranked wrestlers and depth across every weight class, the Bombers are poised to make a strong impact on the national stage.

Head coach Marty Nichols '90 enters his 30th season leading the program, boasting a career record of 329-111-1. Nichols guided IC to an impressive 16-2 dual meet record last season, continuing the program's tradition of excellence.

The Bombers' upcoming schedule features a balanced mix of invitational tournaments and dual meets, highlighted by the 42nd Annual Ithaca Invitational, a two-day event hosted inside the Athletics & Events Center to open the season. Here's a preview of how the Bombers project to shape up by weight class:

125 lbs.: Tomah Gummow and Cosmo Damiani
Reigning SUNYAC Wrestling Rookie of the Year Tomah Gummow made an immediate impact for the Bombers, posting an impressive 35-14 record in his debut season. His performance featured 14 major decisions, six technical falls, and four pins. Entering the 2025-26 campaign, Gummow is ranked No. 1 in the region and No. 9 nationally, setting the stage for another standout year.

Senior leader Cosmo Damiani brings veteran experience to the lineup as he embarks on his final season. Over his career, he has compiled a 30-41 record, including a solid 15-12 mark last year.

133 lbs.: Jay McDonnell and George McAteer
McDonnell, a transfer from Binghamton University, brings proven success to the Bombers after capturing the 2024 Cornell Big Red Invitational title in his weight class, going a perfect 3-0 at the event. He will look to make an immediate impact alongside George McAteer, a talented first year who was a state finalist and placer at Xaverian Brothers High School.

141 lbs.: Isaias Torres
Torres enters the season as one of the Bombers' most accomplished wrestlers. The two-time national qualifier punched his ticket to the NCAA Championships in back-to-back seasons after finishing second at regionals. During his junior campaign, he posted a 27-10 record while primarily competing at 133 lbs. The 2023-24 All-American now moves up to 141 lbs., where he is ranked No. 1 in the region and No. 7 nationally by the NWCA. Torres begins the year just two wins shy of reaching 100 career victories.

149 lbs.: Will Bentrim and Michael Fahmie
A pair of sophomores will battle for time at 149 lbs. in Coach Nichol's lineup. Michael Fahmie posted a 5-9 record in his first season, with four of his five wins coming by bonus points. After a season-ending injury in the spring semester, Fahmie looks to return to form and make an impact this year. Will Bentrim finished his inaugural season with a 27-17 record, which included collecting 11 falls on the year.

157 lbs.: Brian Bienus and Akio Sanders
Akio Sanders looks to build on a promising freshman campaign in which he competed at both 157 and 165 lbs., finishing with a 13-14 record. He closed the season on a high note, going 2-1 at the St. John Fisher Futures Invitational, and will aim to carry that momentum into year two.

Brian Bienus will provide strong competition in practice for Sanders at 165 lbs. Bienus posted a 19-17 record last season and owns a career mark of 52-34. He placed eighth at regionals a year ago and now aims to build on that success by scoring team points for the first-time at the Ithaca Invitational.

165 lbs.: Chris Reddy and Max Casiano
Chris Reddy and Max Casiano will look to build on strong debut seasons for the Bombers. Reddy posted a 22-12 record while competing across three different weight classes, highlighted by eight technical falls. Casiano finished 19-16 and earned a fourth-place finish in the freshman/sophomore bracket at the NYS Championships, showcasing his potential for growth in year two.

174 lbs.: Konrad Parker
Konrad Parker, a returning national qualifier, is one of the most consistent performers in the Bombers' lineup. He begins the season ranked No. 8 nationally and No. 2 regionally by the NWCA. Parker makes the move up to 174 lbs. after posting a stellar 29-6 record at 165 during his junior campaign. With another strong season, he is poised to surpass 100 career wins and will look to capture his first All-American honor.

184 lbs.: Xavier Pommells and Eamon Callaghan
Pommells enters his final season on South Hill as a graduate student after a historic campaign in which he earned his first NCAA Championship berth and claimed All-American honors, becoming the program's 84th All-American all-time. He finished last season with a 29-13 record and will look to make even more noise in his last ride.

As they say, iron sharpens iron, and that's certainly true at 184 lbs. Last year, Eamon Callaghan captured the freshman/sophomore title at the NYS Championships and posted an impressive 22-11 overall record. He also recorded the second-most falls on the team with 13, showcasing his ability to finish bouts.

197 lbs.: Ryan Galka
Ryan Galka returns for his senior season aiming to qualify for nationals for the second time in his career after earning a spot during the 2023-24 campaign. Despite battling a nagging injury last year, Galka posted a solid 14-8 record and now enters the season ranked No. 6 in the region, bringing experience and resilience to the Bombers' lineup.

285 lbs.: Kamdyn Dorchester
Kamdyn Dorchester will look to solidify the lineup at heavyweight and should make an immediate impact. The first year was a two-time Section 3 champion and 2025 NYSPHSAA State Champion, where he also earned Section 3 Wrestler of the Year honors.

Ithaca welcomes eight other teams onto the mats in a tournament style contest for the 42nd Ithaca Invitational. The first round of matches will be the pigtails into the tournament starting at 2:30 p.m. Friday. Wrestling will resume the following day at 9 a.m. The podium matches - including the finals - will begin around 11 a.m. on Saturday.
