ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College field hockey team wrapped up its regular season home schedule on Friday afternoon, October 17, at Higgins Stadium with a 2-1 Liberty League victory over St. Lawrence University. The Bombers are now 10-4 on the season and 3-2 in the Liberty League with two conference games, along with two non-conference matchups, remaining on their schedule.
The win on Friday also marked the 100th victory for head coach
Kaitlyn Wahila at Ithaca College.
Controlling possession in most of the first quarter, the Bombers secured their first offensive corner with less than five minutes on the clock. A second corner was awarded shortly after
Payton Yahner's near miss. Capitalizing on the opportunity,
Brooke Snider found the back of the cage with a well-placed shot with less than two minutes left in the quarter, assisted by Yahner, putting Ithaca on the scoreboard and setting the tone for the rest of the match.
Despite consistent offensive pressure in the second and third quarters, Ithaca couldn't convert multiple scoring opportunities. Their persistence paid off late in the third when
Audrey McMahon netted the second goal after battling through three consecutive corners, giving the Bombers a comfortable lead. The goal was set up by a corner insert by McMahon to Yahner at the top of the circle.
St. Lawrence responded in the fourth quarter with a corner of their own. Although the initial shot went wide, the Saints managed to slip one past IC goalkeeper
Maeve Clark in the closing minutes, narrowing the gap. Ithaca held firm to secure the 2-1 win, improving to 3-2 in Liberty League play.
Ithaca outshot St. Lawrence, 15-3, in the game and held a 7-1 edge in corners.
Next up, the Bombers hit the road for another conference matchup against Skidmore College on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
