ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 13 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team won the Liberty League regular season title on Senior Day at Higgins Stadium with a convincing, 19-1, victory over Bard College on April 20. With the win, IC extends its winning streak to nine straight games as is now 12-1 on the season and 9-0 in the Liberty League.
The Bombers led from the start of the game and jumped out to a 11-0 lead after the first quarter. After two more goals to begin the second period to make it 13-0, Bard got on the board with 8:18 on the clock for the final goal of the half.
IC then scored six unanswered goals in the second half to account for the 19-1 final as the Bombers tallied four goals in the third quarter and two more in the final period of play.
Leigh Naturale led all scorers with three goals in the win, while
Lily Cody,
Maizy Veitch,
Sydney Phillips,
Elizabeth Green,
Kelly Augeri and
Juliana Esposito all finished with two goals apiece.
Lexi Kellish,
Caroline Wise,
Chloe Nordyke and
Paige Smith also found the back of the net for IC.
Cody, Veitch, Wise and
Hayley Armstrong all dished out two assists each, while Green, Augeri and
Katelyn Ikle also handed out assists in the win.
Ithaca won 20-of-22 draws in the game, led by 12 from Wise, while Kellish earned four draws and Cody won two. Cody also finished with five caused turnovers and
Liney Dutchyshyn had a team-high four ground balls.
Lexi Held and
Jocelyn Cote split action in goal on Saturday as the duo faced two shots all day.
The Bombers will head to Hamilton on April 24 for a 6 p.m. game and conclude the regular season at Skidmore on April 27.
