Men's Lacrosse Drop a Home Matchup to Nazareth

ITHACA, NY- The Ithaca College men's lacrosse team was defeated by the Nazareth Golden Flyers with a final score of 13-4. The Bombers fell to 2-2 on the season while the Golden Flyers improved to 3-2.

This game was rough for the Bombers as the rain was coming down hard all afternoon on Higgins Field as the teams battled the elements along with a fog that was on the South Hill. Nazareth came ready to play as Kyle Rosenberger scored the first goal of the match to put the Golden Flyers up 1-0. The majority of this one was a defensive battle as the second goal of the game wasn't scored until the last 10 seconds of the quarter as William Meagher cashed in to make it 2-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter started and Nazareth scored their third goal of the game but the Bombers responded as Derek Stout scored his fourth of the season off a nice cut by the crease to cut the lead to 3-1. Nazareth scored the next three goals to cap off the half and the score was 6-1 heading into the second half.

Graham Brady got things going for the Ithaca offense as he took a jump shot from 12-yards out and hit the top corner to make it a 6-2 game. That was just about the last hope the Bombers had as Nazareth put together an incredible 5-0 run to close out the third quarter. Quinn McKercher and Kyle Rosenberger continued their impressive days offensively and were finding ways to capitalize on the IC defensive miscues.

Charlie Niebuhr and Sam Baker each tallied goals for the Bombers in the 4th quarter and Nazareth scored two of their own to finish this game with a final score of 13-4. Quinn McKercher had 5 goals and an assist for Nazareth while Sam Baker, Graham Brady, Charlie Niebuhr and Derek Stout each had a goal apiece for Ithaca.

Ithaca's next game will also be at Higgins Stadium this Saturday when they take on the University of Scranton with a 1 p.m. start time.
