TROY, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's basketball team suffered a 53-45 Liberty League loss at RPI on Saturday afternoon at the ECAV Arena. Ithaca is now 11-9 on the season and 6-7 in the Liberty League.
Evan Cabral led IC in scoring with 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting, to go along with four rebounds and four assists.
Triston Wennersten also reached double figures with 11 points and had four rebounds.
Logan Wendell added eight points, six assists and four boards, while
Cole Wissink chipped in seven points.
IC lead in the early stages of the first half by a 4-3 score after a Cabral layup at the 17:44 mark, but RPI went on a 23-4 run over the next 10 minutes to build a 26-8 advantage. The Bombers then answered with a 16-5 run over the final seven minutes of the half to pull to within five points at 29-24 heading to intermission.
The Bombers continued that run in the second half and went ahead, 30-29, with 17:22 on the clock. RPI would go back in front, 31-30, just over a minute later and never relinquished the lead for the remainder of the contest. IC pulled to within a point on three separate occasions but could not find another basket to take a lead.
Ithaca shot just 17-for-58 in the game and was 3-for-26 from 3-point range.
The Bombers return to home for the remainder of the regular season for five games, beginning on Tuesday, February 6 against RIT.
