ITHACA, N.Y. – Ithaca College women's basketball team played a tough Clarkson team in Ben Light Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon closing out the backend of a back-to-back as the Bombers used a balanced scoring effort to prevail 63-46 over the Golden Knights. Ithaca who improves to 19-4 overall and 13-3 in the Liberty League have now reeled off four-straight wins to prepare for the end of the Liberty League regular season.
June Dickson got the scoring started for both teams as she netted a layup off an early Clarkson turnover. Ithaca began a 17-0 run that was capped off by a layup from
Avery McPeek in the paint. The first quarter was dominated by Ithaca's offense ending in a
June Dickson trey, making it a 18-6 game ending the first quarter.
Anya Watkins opened up the second quarter with a layup, followed by a
Camryn Coffey jumper making it 22-6 in favor of the Bombers.
Graycen Dubin's driving layup in the paint made it a 33-13 game with four minutes to go. The Golden Knights answered with a layup by Raelin Burns making it 33-15 in favor of Ithaca.
Clarkson scored 17 points in the third, more than the first half output combined for the Golden Knights. Attempting to make it a battle, Ithaca fought back keeping the lead the whole quarter. A jumper from
Zoraida Icabalceta and a layup from McPeek kept the lead in favor of the Bombers making it 53-32.
The fourth quarter was still a dominant effort from the Bombers as they saw a layup from
Elizabeth Majka and a pair of jumpers from
Grace McNamara. Ithaca was able to hold the Clarkson offense to 46 points total making it a 63-46 point game in the end.
The Bombers shot 57.4% from the field and had 42 points in the paint for the afternoon. The bench tagged in 24 points on the night and the leading scorers were
Camryn Coffey and
Anya Watkins with 13 points apiece.
Ithaca will look to finish out league play next weekend facing off against Bard in Ben Light Gymnasium on Friday. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
