LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the ninth-straight season, the Ithaca College women's volleyball team received the United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association (USMC/AVCA) Team Academic Award. They were honored for their exceptional performances in the classroom during the 2022-23 academic year.

The USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award initiated in the 1992-93 academic year and honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams (men and women, indoor and beach) that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

"The commitment our coaches make to help their student-athletes pursue the best versions of themselves is evident in the academic accomplishments highlighted today." said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "Achievement on the court has always been closely tied to success in the classroom which is reflected by the number of championship programs honored."

After maintaining a 3.30 team grade point average for the ninth-straight season, the Bombers have now won the award a total of 13 times during its program history.

Ithaca College will open its 2023 season in just over a month when they will travel to the New York City area to compete in the NYU Invitational (September 1-2). The Bombers first match of the season will be against NYU on Friday, September 1 at 4:30 p.m.
