GAME 1: Rochester 3, Ithaca 2

The Yellowjackets took game one by a score of 3–2 in game one of the doubleheaders. Rochester took a 3–0 lead into the bottom of the ninth before the Bombers rallied for two runs. The Bombers got the winning run to second base, but a double play ended the game with the bases loaded.

It was a pitchers' duel between starters
Kyle Lambert and Nolan Sparks. Sparks earned the win, allowing five hits over seven innings with six strikeouts. Lambert allowed two runs on five hits with six strikeouts over six innings.

The Yellowjackets broke the deadlock. With a run in the fourth, then scoring the second in the sixth inning. The Bombers were 1-for-10 at the plate with a runner on base, struggling to build any momentum.

UR threatened to get on the board first, getting its first two batters on in the second inning and moving to second and third on a bunt. Lambert brought out his best stuff, striking out two batters to get out of the jam.

The Yellowjackets broke the deadlock in the top of the fourth inning, taking a 1–0 lead. Rochester loaded the bases with one out and brough a run home on a passed ball. Lambert earned a strikeout and a lineout to leave runner stranded at second and third.

With one out in the bottom of the fifth, the Bombers put runners on first and third looking to tie the game, but UR earned a strikeout and a groundball to keep to Bombers off the board. The Yellowjackets then doubled its lead in the top of the sixth, scoring one run on two hits.

Rochester added a third run in the top of seventh inning from two hits. UR got a two-out rally going with a double down the right field line and brought the runner home on a single in the next at-bat for a 3–0 lead.Â

With one more chance at the plate to make some noise, the Bombers quickly loaded the bases from its first three batters.
Gil Merod was hit by a pitch and Connor Pederson and
Ryan Laubscher drew walks. With one out,
Mike Nauta roped a single to right field to bring two runs home to cut the lead to 3–2.
Riley Brawdy then drew another walk to load the bases and bring the tying run to third and winning run on second.

The Yellowjackets forced
Louis Fabbo into a groundball and was able to two turn two up the middle to end the game at 3–2.
GAME 2: Ithaca 3, Rochester 2
The Yellowjackets struck early in the nightcap as they put up two runs on three hits in the top of the first innings. UR's first two batters reached on a double and single and then a ground out pushed the first run of the game across the plate. An infield base hit continued the inning and a sacrifice fly followed to make it a 2-0 contest.
Ithaca got on the board in the bottom of the second inning as
Matt Fabian led off with a walk and Laubscher followed with a single. After a sacrifice bunt,
Ethan Daddabbo singled up the middle to plate Fabian and set runners up on the corners with one out. A walk to Nauta loaded the bases with two outs but IC was unable to plate another run.
The Bombers knotted the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning on a single through the right side of the infield by Callaghan, which brought home Nauta.
IC took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth on a two-out line drive single to the gap by Rothstein with
Colin Dunn on second base. Laubscher started the inning with a double to center and was pinch ran for by Dunn.
Colin Leyner finished off his compete game in the seventh by inducing a pop out to shortstop. After giving up two first innings runs, Leyner only allowed three hits the rest of the way and threw 88 pitches over the course of seven innings for his first win of the year.
Ithaca will head to Rochester on Sunday to complete the three-game series.
