Women’s Tennis Conclude Spring Break Trip on a High Note

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ORLANDO, Fla. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team split a doubleheader on Wednesday in its final two games of its Spring Break trip to Orlando, Florida. The Bombers defeated Colby-Sawyer College 7–2 in its first match and fell 7–2 to Franklin and Marshall College.

The Bombers swept the Chargers in its doubles matches to start off the day and take a 3–0 advantage into singles matches. 
 
At No. 1, Taylor Crain and Caroline Herz quickly defeated their opponents 8–0 to quickly claim the first win of the day. Kayla Shenk and Sarah Kohberger also defeated their opponents by a score of 8–0 at No. 3 doubles. Eliana Chelnick and Sabrina Cheung grabbed the victory in the final doubles match, edging out Isabella Gutierrez and Lily Tria 8–7. 
 
Rebecca Andrews played at No.1 for the Bombers in singles, defeating Emily Hill 6– and 6–1 in both sets. Shenk picked up her second win of the day at No. 3 with a big win over Elise Hogan, winning 6–2 and 6–3 in both sets. 
 
Herz dominated her opponent, winning both sets by a score of 6–0 at No. 4. Kohberger grabbed the last win of the day in the match, defeating Mei Genest in a tight contest. Kohberger took the first set 7–5 and the second set 5–4. 
 
Ithaca College vs. Franklin and Marshall College (2–7)   
 
The Bombers went 1–2 in its doubles matches and 1–5 in its singles matches. Crain and Herz teamed up again at the No. 2 spot, defeating Rebecca Bellick and Amelia Squires in a close 8–6 match. Andrews and Zoe Davis fell 8–4 at the No. 1 spot and the duo of Chelnick and Cheung fell 8–5. 
 
Crain picked up the Bombers' only singles win over Cassidy Landau in the No. 1 spot, winning 6–1 and 6–3. At the No. 2 spot, Andrews played a close match, falling 6–4 in both sets to Mackenzie Sherman. 
 
The Diplomats won the rest of the singles matches by big margins, taking home the victory. 
 
The Bombers finish its Spring Break trip in Orlando with a 2–2 record on the trip. The Bombers have a 4–3 overall record as they return to New York this weekend. The Bombers travel to Rochester University on March 23 before hosting SUNY New Paltz on March 25 for their first home match of the spring season.
