ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's basketball team defeated Rochester Institute of Technology by a score of 92-71, on Tuesday night in its final regular season game in Ben Light Gymnasium. The Bombers exploded for 55 points and a 21-point lead in the first half to make for easy sailing in the second half.
The Bombers got out to a fast start with
Zach Warech, hitting threes on the Bombers' first two possessions. Both teams traded buckets back-and-forth through the early minutes with the Bombers holding a 15–10 lead with 13:28 remaining.
The Tigers brought the score back within one point after an 8–2 scoring run, but the Bombers took back control, putting together a 9–0 run to take a 29–19 lead with 8:08 remaining.
Logan Wendell took over the next few minutes scoring seven consecutive points for the Bombers. The Bombers finished the final five minutes of the first half with a 16–4 scoring run to take a big 55–34 lead into the half.
The second half got out to another fast-paced start, with both teams going back-and-forth through the first five minutes for a 65–43 Bombers lead. A three by
Noah Downing ignited a 9–0 scoring run, including a monster dunk by
Gavin Schauder to give the Bombers a 74-46 lead with 12 minutes remaining.
The Tigers began intensifying its full court pressure on the Bombers, sparking a 13–3 scoring run for the Tigers to get back within 18 points. The Bombers closed out a calm final few minute with Lawrence Brady and
Christian Dufort hitting their first collegiate three-pointers as the Bombers took the 90-69 victory.
Luka Radovich led all scorers on the court, finishing with 19 points and adding 12 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season.
Logan Wendell finished with 16 points and Warech finished with 11 points as each hit three three-pointers.
The Bombers advance to 15–6 on the season with an 11–3 record in the Liberty League with sole possession of first place. The Bombers begin a four-game road trip against Clarkson University on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
