Hannah Quintana ’07 Steps Down as Softball Coach

ITHACA, N.Y. – Hannah Quintana '07 has announced her resignation as head coach of the Ithaca College softball program, effectively July 15. Quintana has been the head coach at IC for the past three seasons and won 48 games during that span, which included a trip to the Liberty League finals in 2021.

"Being the head coach of Bomber softball these last three years has been an honor and privilege," said Quintana. "With that being said, I have come to the difficult decision to step away from coaching to pursue new challenges and to prioritize time spent with my family. I would like to thank Athletics Director Susan Bassett for this tremendous opportunity and to express my sincere gratitude to the countless people behind the scenes who make Ithaca College Athletics the special place that it is. I will miss working with our talented student-athletes but look forward to cheering for them from the stands as I pursue a different path."

Quintana, a 2017 IC Hall of Famer, was hired on July 8, 2019, as the fifth head coach in program history after the retirement of Deb Pallozzi. She returned to IC after a six-year stint as head coach at Skidmore College.

As a player at IC, Quintana was a NFCA First-Team All-American and the NFCA Catcher of the Year. The Bombers won 133 games while Quintana was a member of the team and made two appearances in the NCAA Division III Championship.

"I want to thank Hannah Quintana for her many contributions to and leadership of Ithaca College softball during these past three years," stated Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Susan Bassett '79. "She navigated our process of providing programming through the pandemic which included remote work, hybrid and modified in-person training and practices. Coach Quintana exhibited creativity in planning our program during this very challenging time. I appreciate her efforts and commitment to Bomber softball.  I also understand and respect her decision to step away from coaching at this time to pursue other career opportunities. We wish Hannah Quintana all the best in her future endeavors."

Kelly Robichaud '16 will step in as interim head coach of the softball program for the 2022-23 academic year.  A national search will be conducted in the spring of 2023.

"I have every confidence that Kelly Robichaud will provide excellent leadership for our softball program during this transition." Bassett said.
