ITHACA, N.Y. – Newly appointed head coach
Michael Toerper of the Ithaca College football program has announced his coaching staff, along with promotions, for the upcoming 2022 season. Toerper returned to South Hill in February after a two-year stint at Division I FCS Holy Cross.
Toerper will also oversee the development of the wide receivers and strong safeties.
Mike Hatcher has been elevated to associate head coach and will also serve as special teams coordination and quarterbacks coach.
Sean Reeder has been the offensive line coach since arriving on South Hill and he will now take over as offensive coordinator for the program heading into the fall.
"I'm excited that our staff remained intact from the 2021 season and I can't wait to see what Coach Hatcher and Coach Reeder will bring to the program in their new roles," said Toerper. "It's been great working with these guys since coming back to South Hill and they've all done a terrific job so far through our spring session. We will continue to improve every day as we gear up for our return in August to begin the 2022 season."
Trevor Warner will remain in his position as defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach, while
Tom Biscardi will coach the linebackers and zips, and
Kerry Grigsby will serve as the defensive line coach.
Gary Bucci is back on the staff as running backs coach, while
Josh Kowalczyk moves from an offensive student assistant to tight ends coach.
KP McClain is also back on the staff as an offensive assistant.
Strength and conditioning remains the same with
Vic Brown and
Ben Fleet, while
Anthony Giovagnoli is the assistant director of recruiting and player personnel.
Jim Yaggie rounds out the support staff as the faculty advisor.
The Bombers, who are coming off an 8-2 season last fall,
will open the 2022 season at Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, Mass. on September 3 at 1 p.m. IC then hosts Brockport on September 10 and Alfred on the 17th before the bye week.
Coming out of the break, the Bombers travel to Hobart on October 1 for their Liberty League opener, and then play Rochester (Oct. 8) and St. Lawrence (Oct. 15) at Butterfield Stadium.
On October 22, the Bombers travel to Buffalo State and then host RPI on October 29. IC's final road contest is scheduled for November 5 at Union.
The season concludes with the 63rd Cortaca Jug Game at Yankee Stadium on November 12.
