Women’s Tennis Drops Non-Conference Match to Hamilton

Box Score

CLINTON, N.Y. - The Ithaca College women's tennis team fell 8-1 to the Continentals at Hamilton College Wednesday afternoon. The Bombers fall to a 10-5 season record with the loss.

First year Kayla Shenk recorded the sole individual victory for IC in the final singles slot, taking down Hamilton's Caroline Magnan in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.

Fellow first year Lauren Rodriguez played a tough match in the second singles spot, dropping the first set 2-6 but battling back to take the second 6-2 from the Continentals' Claire Cutler. Rodriguez was unable to keep the momentum going in the super tie-breaker, losing by just two points 10-8.

Shenk and junior Rebecca Andrews posted Ithaca's best doubles showing of the afternoon, grabbing five games in an 8-5 loss at third doubles.

Up next, the Bombers will travel to Troy, N.Y. this Saturday, April 23 to take on conference opponent Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Start time is slated for 10 a.m.
