Women’s Tennis Sweeps Allegheny 9-0 for Fourth Straight Win

Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca College women's tennis team swept the visiting Allegheny College Gators 9-0 in Glazer Arena on Sunday morning. The victory takes the Bombers to a perfect 4-0 record to start the season. 
 
Reigning Liberty League Rookie of the Week Taylor Crain and honor roll nominee Lauren Rodriguez took home wins in both doubles and singles over Allegheny. The first year's records both improved to a perfect 8-0 with those wins. 
 
Junior Rebecca Andrews and first-year Kayla Shenk took home the first doubles win of the afternoon in the third slot, downing the Gators' Taylor Hayes and Lauren Passarelli easily at 8-1. 
 
Crain and Rodriguez notched the next doubles win in the top spot, defeating Allegheny's Ella Swan and Jean-Arlette Legrand 8-2. 
 
Junior Zoe Davis and first-year Eliana Chelnick rounded out the doubles wins for Ithaca in the second slot, besting opponents Katherine Marks and Sabrina Rodriguez 8-3. 
 
At first singles, Taylor Crain took down Allegheny's Marks in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. 
 
Lauren Rodriguez recorded the most dominant singles win of the day for the Bombers in the second singles slot. The first year defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-1 for her fourth straight singles win. 
 
After dropping the first set 1-6, Andrews battled back in the third singles spot to defeat Allegheny's Katherine Stancil. The junior took the second set 6-3 and the super tie-breaker 10-5. 
 
At fourth singles, Zoe Davis improved her season singles record to 4-0 in a straight set win over the Gators' Legrand. The junior easily bested her opponent 6-0, 6-2. 
 
First year Katya Kelly made her collegiate singles debut for the Bombers this morning, taking down opponent Allison Riley 6-2, 6-2. 
 
Kayla Shenk sealed the sweep for Ithaca with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Allegheny's Noelle Kidd in the sixth and final singles slot. 
 
Next up, Ithaca will travel to Hilton Head, S.C. for the team's spring break trip next week. The 4-0 Ithaca Bombers will take on Nichols College for the first match of the trip on Sunday, March 13.
