Women’s Tennis Falls 8-1 to No.16 Skidmore at Home

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca College women's tennis team fell 8-1 to conference opponent Skidmore College Sunday afternoon in Glazer Arena. The Bombers record now stands at 7-3 on the season and 0-1 in the Liberty League. 

First year Taylor Crain picked up the sole win of the afternoon for IC in the first singles slot, taking down the Thoroughbreds' Katherine Almquist. Crain took the first set 6-4 but was swept in the second set tiebreaker 7-6 (0). The first year battled back in the super-tiebreaker, saving multiple match points to win it 12-10. 
 
Crain's individual victory marks the first time since 2011 that Ithaca has won a match against Skidmore. 
 
Reigning Liberty League Rookie of the Week, first year Kayla Shenk, put up a good fight in her match at sixth singles but ultimately fell to her opponent 6-4, 6-4. 
 
The Bombers will travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. for it's next match against Liberty League opponent Vassar College on Saturday, April 2. Start time is slated for 1 p.m.
