Box Score HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team dropped a close encounter to Washington College on their second match of their Spring Break trip on Tuesday. The Shoreman bested IC by a 5-4 score as this was the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
The match opened with the Bombers taking two of the three matches in doubles play.
Taylor Crain and
Lauren Rodriguez handed Irene Meng and Piper Sartison an 8-5 loss in the No. 1 slot. The duo of
Rebecca Andrews and
Kayla Shenk bested the No. 3 team of the Shoreman by an 8-4 score. Washington College took the No. 2 doubles match over
Zoe Davis and
Eliana Chelnick in a very tight matchup.
Crain was bested in the No. 1 slot, 5-7 and 4-6. Alisha White took the No. 2 singles over
Lauren Rodriguez, 4-6, 3-6. Washington College took the lead by taking the third flight of singles play before Ithaca's
Zoe Davis won a tight matchup. The junior got the win by score of 6-4, 6-3 versus Ngyugen. IC got the default win in the sixth flight after
Ekaterina Kelly dropped the No. 4 singles matchup to Kathryn Rupert, 2-6, 2-6.
Ithaca will square off against LeTourneau University on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in their third match at Hilton Head.
